The Peter Kirk Municipal Parking Garage has 420 parking spaces and is owned and operated by the City of Kirkland. It is located at the southwest corner of Peter Kirk Park on the corner of Third Street and Kirkland Avenue in downtown Kirkland. The Kirkland branch of the King County Library occupies the top floor of this structure.
Is there free parking available in the garage?Yes, free 4-hour parking is available. The garage can be accessed from 3rd St or Kirkland Ave. The surface lot provides 4-hour parking for library patrons during hours that the library is open. After those times it is available for 4-hour public parking. The upper level (P1) provides 4-hour parking for the public and library patrons. The lower level (P2) and ramp to the lower level is Permit Parking Only, Mon – Fri, 5am to 5pm. This is reserved for Downtown Employee permit parking.
After 5pm weekdays and on weekends & holidays, the permit only parking spaces on the lower level and ramp to the lower level are open for 4-hour public parking along with employee permit parking.
Please watch for signs that designate specific parking spaces within the garage: 4-hour, permit parking only (day & time specific), or ev-charging parking stalls.
Is the garage open 24 hours a day?
No. All pedestrian and vehicle entrances and exits close and lock at midnight every night. They reopen daily at 5 a.m. No after-hours vehicle retrieval is available.
What if I need to park for a longer period of time?The City of Kirkland does not offer long-term parking for downtown patrons; however, more parking options are available with the privately-operated parking lots within Downtown Kirkland.
