About

The Civil Service Commission makes rules to implement the civil service system, authorizes the conduct and grading of civil services tests, investigates complaints about the enforcement of the civil service system, conducts hearings regarding discipline of civil service employees, and assures that employees are selected or promoted from lists maintained by the Commission.

All board and commissions hold regular public meetings and are non-salaried. The Civil Service Commission meets the second Tuesday of every month at 4:00 PM.

The Civil Service Commission is unique from other City of Kirkland Boards and Commissions as the appointment to the Commission is made by the City Manager and confirmed by the City Council. The interview process will include the City Manger and other City Manager’s Office Staff.
