Edith Moulton Park

There is a fully fenced off-leash dog area at Edith Moulton Park.

• Keep an eye on your dog at all times. You are responsible for your dog’s actions.
• Do not allow your dog to run and jump on other people or dogs without an invitation.
• Dogs must be on a leash at all times unless you are in an Off-Leash Area.
• Pick up after your dog and dispose of the waste in containers provided throughout the park.

Donating funds to a park is a wonderful way to show appreciation for Kirkland, to honor someone special, or to commemorate a milestone. Park benches and tables are the most popular items to donate, however other donations are possible as well, like those for trees or landscape, for general park maintenance, towards public art or other site amenities (i.e. water fountains), and even towards the tools and equipment needed to keep Kirkland’s parks beautiful.

Edith Moulton was raised on the property by her Grandmother Jennie and her Aunt Jeannie Moulton. Edith graduated from Kirkland High and the University of Washington. She worked as a teacher on the Olympic Peninsula but returned often to the family farm. She cared for the property after Jennie Moulton passed away in 1934 and Jeannie passed away in 1954. 

Edith Moulton was negotiating the sale of her property to King County for a public park when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early 1960s. Upon her death in 1967, she willed the 20-acre property to King County to be used as a public park and to “save some nature spots for posterity before it is too late,” so that “small children could have a place to play other than the street.” 

In the 1970s the county purchased six acres north of the park, expanding the park with a property once owned by Edith’s childhood friends, the Mattila family. King County transferred ownership of the park to the City of Kirkland in 2011. The City began plans for the redevelopment of the park in 2013 and a grand re-opening was held in July 2018.

Edith Moulton Park has a picnic area available for rent. It includes a covered shelter with a total of three picnic tables. When the picnic area is not being rented, it is available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis.

There are additional picnic tables throughout the park that are not part of the picnic area. They are available for first-come, first-serve use.

Wrap House by UrbanRock Design

The Wrap House is an art pavilion that provides both casual seating and reflects the history of the property as the Moulton family homestead.

The accent color is blue when viewed from one direction and green when viewed from the opposite direction.

It was installed in the park in the summer of 2022.
