KIRKLAND, Wash. & Seattle, Wash. – To help ensure a safe experience for all, the City of Kirkland is installing AEDs (automated external defibrillator) at popular Kirkland parks. Thanks to a generous donation from Project 100, an AED was recently installed at Kirkland’s Crestwoods Park. Join Kirkland City Council and Project 100 on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Community members can also learn CPR and how to use an AED.

“Seconds matter in a cardiac emergency,” said Councilmember John Tymczyszyn.  “We’re grateful to Project 100 for this donation, which will help make Crestwoods safer for all park visitors and may potentially save lives.”

Project 100 is a collective effort of the UW Medicine Center for Sports Cardiology, Nick of Time Foundation, DP Foundation, Medic One Foundation, King County Public Health, and Resuscitation Academy, and volunteer medical professionals dedicated to equipping 100% of sports fields in Washington with AEDs.

“We are proud to partner with the City of Kirkland to make parks safer for everyone,” said Dr. Jonathan Drezner with Project 100. “With AEDs available, we are one step closer to responding to and saving someone from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.”

The AED at Crestwoods Park is mounted on the restroom building between two ballfields. The AED is housed in a SaveStation cabinet, which includes heating and ventilation for year-round use, as well as an alarm, built-in camera, and 24/7 monitoring. The AED is simple to use, with step-by-step verbal instructions to guide users through an emergency.

In the event of a cardiac emergency, always call 911 and start CPR before attempting to find an AED.

Crestwoods Park is located at 1818 6th Street, Kirkland, WA 98033.
