KIRKLAND, Wash. – The City of Kirkland is hosting a Faith Community Homelessness Symposium to catalyze faith communities of all traditions in Kirkland and across the region to inform the City’s new Homelessness Continuum of Care Action Plan.  This is a new plan that City staff will be drafting over the next several months through a robust community engagement process.  The purpose of the plan is to ensure the City of Kirkland can provide a compassionate, human-centered response to unhoused residents in Kirkland, both currently and into the future.

“Faith communities play a critical role in addressing the challenges of homelessness,” said Kirkland Mayor Kelli Curtis. “The City wants to learn both from faith community partners who are doing this important work already and from faith communities that might want to deepen their service to some of the most vulnerable in our community.  We all have a shared interest of everyone in Kirkland having a safe and secure place to call home.  I hope you can join us to make sure the City can support those in need.”

The Symposium will be held Thursday, June 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1p.m at Kirkland City Hall.  Parking is available on site.  The City requests that only one representative of a faith community attend.  Registration is available via an online registration form.

Although focused on the City of Kirkland’s Homelessness Continuum of Care Action Plan, faith communities from nearby cities are welcome to attend.
