Invite City First Responders or Councilmembers to Your Block Party

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Join community members across Kirkland for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6, 2024!  National Night Out happens every year around the U.S. to promote police-community partnerships and neighbor-to-neighbor relationships to make our communities safer, more caring places to live.

National Night Out is a chance for community members to get to know their local police officers, crisis responders, firefighters, and city officials by inviting them to block parties, barbeques, and festivals in their own neighborhoods.

“This event is a great way to meet your neighbors, Kirkland’s City Councilmembers, and our amazing first responders, including police, fire, emergency medical, and our new crisis responders, each of whom help keep us safe all year round,” said Councilmember Neal Black. “If you’ve been thinking of planning a neighborhood event, this is a great opportunity.”

If you would like to request police, crisis responders, firefighters and/or City Councilmembers at your block party, fill out the National Night Out First Responder Request Form by July 23. First responders from Kirkland Police and Fire Departments and City Councilmembers attend community events between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. While police and fire personnel will make every effort to attend your event if invited, please note their availability depends on emergency call volume.

Events that include a street closure require a permit. To request a street closure, submit a National Night Out Block Party Permit Application. A completed application must also be received by July 23, no less than 10 business days prior to the event. Applicants must live on the street to be closed and serve as the event contact.

For more information and to access the request form and permit application, go to www.kirklandwa.gov/NationalNightOut.
