The City of Kirkland is hosting an Open House for the Houghton Village Development Plan on Monday, July 15, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Peter Kirk Room in Kirkland City Hall.  The purpose of the Open House is to inform and get input from the community on future plans for the former Houghton Village Shopping Center property. Located in the Everest Neighborhood, the site is approximately two acres located at 10702 NE 68th Street in Kirkland with great access to schools, services, and transit.

“Kirkland is a beautiful community. As one of the most livable cities in America, we pride ourselves on creating spaces where everyone belongs,” said Councilmember Amy Falcone.  "It is crucial for Kirkland community members—current, new, and prospective—to help shape the Houghton Village Development Plan. Your perspective matters! Please share your vision of how this village can make Kirkland even better.”

The City purchased this property in 2022 as it offers a strategic opportunity to accomplish multiple important community benefits, including affordable housing; school space; non-profit program space; arts and cultural space; and City recreational program space, in a walkable ten-minute neighborhood with frequent transit services.

The format of the Open House will include stations to provide responses on specific topics, including housing options; community programs and services; retail and shopping; classroom space and workforce training; open spaces and parks; arts and culture; ways to get around; and health and well-being. Parking is available on site. No registration is required.

If you want to learn more about the Houghton Village Development Plan, City Council will be holding a Study Session on the Opportunities and Challenges Analysis on Tuesday, July 16 at 5:30 p.m. You can also visit the Future of the Houghton Village Property webpage, or contact Daniel Lazo, Senior Community Engagement Coordinator for a presentation at dlazo@kirklandwa.gov.
