Are you looking for a memorable and family-friendly outing next weekend?  How about with fire trucks?  Come on down and tour the brand-new Fire Station 27, meet the Fire Chief, and explore fire trucks at the grand opening event. The new fire station, located on the intersection of Northeast 132nd Street and 121st Avenue Northeast, is opening its doors on May 11, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“We’re excited to invite the community to Fire Prop 1’s next big milestone, the opening of Fire Station 27,” said Deputy Mayor Jay Arnold. “Kirkland now has another fire station on the east side of the freeway, which will help our emergency response in major disasters. It’s not every day we open a brand-new fire station - I hope we’ll see you there!”

At the Fire Station 27 grand opening celebration, community members can enjoy:

  • Self-guided tours of the new station – Decontamination Room, Air Lock, and more
  • Photos with the Fire Chief and Firefighters
  • Free swag, snacks and refreshments
  • And of course - check out fire engines, trucks and aid cars!

The new Totem Lake Fire Station 27 will help reduce call response times for fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, technical rescues, and everything in between. It’s a durable and modern building which will continue to serve the community for many years.

Fire Station 27 was made possible by Fire & Emergency Medical Services levy (Fire Prop 1) passed by Kirkland voters in 2020.  Additional Fire Prop 1 investments include the recently renovated Houghton Fire Station 22 which re-opened in October 2023 and ongoing renovations of Forbes Creek Fire Station 21 and North Rose Hill Fire Station 26, both scheduled to be complete in 2025.
