KPD Looking for Identity Theft Suspect Who Fled from Police

Kirkland, WA – Kirkland Police Department (KPD) is looking for an individual who fled from a traffic stop on Wednesday night, July 12. The suspect was in a stolen vehicle and believed to be under the influence.
At 10:45 p.m. on July 12, KPD patrol officers responded to the intersection of NE 124th St and 100th Ave NE in Juanita, to a report of a vehicle with its engine running and the driver passed out. Officers arrived to find a male driver and female passenger, both apparently unconscious with drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Officers deployed spike strips in front of the vehicle. When officers awoke the occupants, the driver immediately sped off, puncturing the tires on the spike strips.
Police located the vehicle at Juanita Bay Park and again attempted to stop the suspected impaired driver. The vehicle collided with a marked KPD patrol vehicle as it fled the parking lot. The involved officer was not hurt and did not further pursue the suspect.
The vehicle was located in the 1100 block of Market Street, with flat tires and abandoned by the occupants. A search by K-9 and the King County Sheriff’s Office helicopter located the female passenger, who was taken into custody.
Kirkland Detectives believe the recovered vehicle was recently purchased by the suspect using a stolen identity. They are doing all they can to solve this case.
This investigation is ongoing.
