Around 5:30 p.m. on August 28, 2024, Kirkland Police officers responded to an in-progress sexual assault at Juanita Beach Park.
When they arrived at the park, officers located both the female victim and the male suspect.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital to be seen by medical staff.
The suspect was transported to King County Jail and booked on charges of Rape in the Second Degree.
Sexual assault is a grave and unacceptable crime that impacts individuals and communities deeply. The Kirkland Police would like to recognize the quick actions of the witness who called 911, which helped lead to police making the arrest.
