Kirkland Police Department Announces Upcoming Gun Safety Class

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Kirkland Police Department (KPD) will host a Gun Safety Class on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, as part of the department’s ongoing commitment to promoting safe practices and responsible firearm ownership in the community. Led by experienced law enforcement officers, the class will cover essential topics such as proper handling and storage of firearms, as well as tips for preventing accidents and misuse.
“We believe that education is important to firearm safety,” said Councilmember Neal Black. “This class is an opportunity for residents to gain practical knowledge that can help protect their loved ones and our community. Together, we can ensure that firearms are stored and handled responsibly, reducing the risk of preventable tragedies.”
Details of the Gun Safety Class:

• Time: 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

This free class is open to residents aged 21 and older who live within the Kirkland city limits. Space is limited to 20 participants, and registration is required through Eventbrite.
Important note to attendees: To maintain a safe learning environment, attendees are asked not to bring personal firearms to the class. Inert training aids will be utilized as part of the instructional presentation.
