Kirkland, WA – On March 12th, Kirkland Police responded to a report of a missing person at the Shumway adult family home. Samantha Ehrich who suffers from mental illness and a traumatic brain injury had walked away from the home without staff knowing.
Over the course of the next seven days, Kirkland Detectives communicated and worked with numerous agencies including the media and other law enforcement in order to trace Samantha’s tracks. Police wanted to locate her before any harm could come to her. By day seven of the investigation, Kirkland Detectives had not received any new information on her whereabouts. They began checking for Samantha in area homeless shelters in downtown Seattle. Detectives contacted the staff at Angeline’s Day Center for Women and showed her photo to the employees. Police learned that Samantha was currently at the location having checked into the shelter just hours earlier. Samantha was contacted and found to be in good health. She appeared nervous and scared from her situation, but otherwise uninjured. She was transported back to Kirkland, where she was medically evaluated for possible Covid-19 exposure along with any other illness or injury. Upon showing no symptoms of the virus, she was medically cleared to go back to her residence at the adult family home. The Kirkland Police would like to thank the public and the local Media who assisted in locating Samantha during the last seven days. We are very thankful for the outcome and glad that she is back safe and sound.
