City of Kirkland flags will be flown at half-staff in honor of Training Battalion Chief Bill Hoover, who, along with his wife, Kristy, passed away on July 21 in a car accident while traveling out of state. Flags will be lowered until sunset on the date of interment, which has not yet been determined. The City is working in coordination with BC Hoover’s family on next steps.
“Bill Hoover was an outstanding firefighter and leader for decades at the City,” said Kirkland Mayor Penny Sweet. “Bill demonstrated tireless commitment to the training, health, and safety of Kirkland firefighters and the community. He was a true public servant and a pillar of leadership for the Fire Service who dedicated his life to protecting others. This is a heartbreaking loss to our community and organization, and Bill will be truly missed.”
No additional details about BC Hoover’s passing are available at this time.
