City Hall for all presents Truck-a-palooza, Sustainability Fair and Sustainability Summit
KIRKLAND, Wash. – This year’s City Hall for All takes place on Saturday, October 12 at City Hall and includes three incredible events: Truck-a-palooza, the Sustainability Fair, and the Sustainability Summit.
The event starts at 12 p.m. with Truck-a-palooza in the City Hall north parking lot. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to get their picture taken sitting on a fire engine, exploring a police cruiser, and experiencing all types of vehicles from garbage trucks to vactor trucks. There will be fun giveaways for the kids and free photos with Fire Chief Joe Sanford from 12 to 1 p.m.
From 1 to 4 p.m. community members can attend the Sustainability Fair in the Peter Kirk Room off the south entrance of City Hall. The fair will have tips on how to make your home more sustainable---from incentives for biking and walking to work, to keeping our waterways clean, to proper recycling techniques. The event will also offer a multitude of free giveaways, including a bag of compost, courtesy of the City of Kirkland (while supplies last).
Join us for the Sustainability Summit from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber for a continuation of our civic conversation on a range of topics related to sustainability. This highly interactive discussion will cover how to encourage students to bike, walk, and bus to school, environmental sustainability, and more. This is a great opportunity to share your input in a casual environment on a variety of issues that impact our community. If you attended the June Sustainability Forum or the July Sustainability Focus Groups, you can find out and provide feedback about what's next for the City’s Sustainability Master Plan. If you're interested in attending, please RSVP at http://bit.ly/2mnFYog so that we can prepare enough materials for everyone.
Lastly, community members will be able to access City services such as pet licensing, paying utility bills, and passport applications from 12 to 4 p.m. The final passport applicant will be taken at 3:45 p.m. More information on applying for a passport is available on the City website at: City of Kirkland Passport Services.
“There is something for everybody at this year’s City Hall for All event,” said Mayor Penny Sweet. “On behalf of my colleagues on the City Council, I want to invite you to join us for a day of fun, sustainability, and civic engagement.”
